Catapulting Yourself Into The Limelight Using Product Reviews
Product reviews are probably one of the most lucrative affiliate marketing opportunities out there. A well executed review – complete with delicious keyword-rich content – can bring about more purchases than a Dollar Store on pay day. While writing a review is far from rocket surgery, there are a few key factors that can mean the difference between a few paragraphs taking up space on your web site and a real review that gets noticed by search engine robots and the people who use them.
Use what you are selling
Unless you are a phenomenal liar, it will be a pointless venture to write a review about a product that you don’t have any direct knowledge of. It helps if you actually own the product or at the very least have used it a time or two. I wish I didn’t even have to say this, but I can’t even begin to describe some of the so-called reviews I’ve seen over the years.
Product Reviews 101
First, you need to describe the product. Tell your readers what it is and what it is purported to do. If you have used similar products, comparing the two can be helpful, especially if the product you’re covering is better.
List the pros and cons
Next, talk about your experience. Did the product deliver on its promises? Write a list of pros and cons, otherwise you are going to come across as a sales pitch and not a legit review. Even still you need to walk a fine line here. Too many cons aren’t going to make people want to buy unless they are dressed in suits and named Guido or Luigi.
Wrap up your review by recapping the promises and whether or not the product actually delivered – in your experience. Again, I can’t make it clear enough that a product review is only powerful if you have firsthand experience.
Finally, read and revise your content as needed to ensure a solid keyword base of between 3 and 5%.
It may seem like a lot of work, but in no time you’ll come to see that it is time well spent.
