Using YouTube to Draw Traffic to Your Website

It is one of the Internet’s guiltiest pleasures, and one that receives more daily traffic than I can even comprehend. I’m talking of course about YouTube, the #1 Internet location for videos. This site has it all; from fifteen year olds making video diaries (known as vlogs) to DIY pieces on everything from cake decorating to home building.

What YouTube offers is a chance for anyone anywhere to publish videos for all the world to see. With Internet business growing at a rate never before seen, it is opportunities such as this that offer a free way to bring tremendous exposure to your online marketing ventures and bring your sales to a whole new level.

As recently as March 26, 2008 (which was yesterday, as luck would have it), YouTube released YouTube Insight, a new program that allows users to view useful statistics about the videos they upload: How many times they are viewed and from what geographic regions as well as other information that will offer a great deal of insight into a video’s popularity.

The trick, as with any marketing effort, is to both be unique and communicate your message. Use the right video tools and editing software to make your video a hit. Make sure the content is doing what it supposed to do.

This innovation could not have come at a more perfect time for online marketers who are working to pinpoint and cater to their target demographics in new and exciting ways. If you aren’t making the most of YouTube then you are missing out on an incredible opportunity.

Stumbling Into Increased Traffic

All traditional traffic building methods aside, there are times when you need to get the word out and bring a larger number of website visitors to your site as quickly as possible. I have recently rediscovered a tool that has been around for a while but hasn’t been used by legitimate Internet marketers to its fullest potential - at least not by my estimation.

The User-Friendly World of Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is nothing new. Yet, I’m surprised of how many people I talk to still have never heard of this new “Semantic Web”, or commonly known as Web 2.0.

Web 2.0 is currently known for its user-friendly applications, features and services. These apps and features are utilized by users to form online relationships, user interaction and socialization (ala Social Media). You may have seen or even used these apps and services on websites such as Wikipedia, Facebook, Myspace, Blogs, etc… [Read more →]

New Social Media Upstart Seeks Beta Testers

It appears as though someone has finally taken social marketing websites to the next level.  Tipzu allows users to create their own Tipzine using Web 2.0 capabilities.  What is a Tipzine, you might ask?  That is this site’s catch word for a personal social networking page with some serious power.

Tipzu is currently in beta testing, offering users complete HTML functionality (that no other social media site has at the moment) to create a page that takes the best of a Blogspot blog and tosses in the article publishing qualities of HubPages and the networking reach of MySpace.

But that’s not even close to everything you can do here.  [Read more →]

MySpace and You – Where Do You Fit?

Anyone who uses MySpace can attest to the ridiculous volume of spam, most notably when it comes to so called “friend requests”.  You aren’t a fool, and you see the tremendous marketing potential that lies in these social mega sites, but you don’t want to waste your time and energy only to be labeled as a spammer and subsequently banned from the site altogether.

So what’s a marketer to do?  Read on, MacDuff.

Personalizing Your Presence

Many online marketers seem to have lost a piece of the sales puzzle that is essential to marketing in the real world – the art of selling yourself.

In truth, your online personality can be as useful a marketing tool as the product or service you are marketing. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to a website intent on buying a product only to decide not to when the site was cold and impersonal. Personality sells, people! [Read more →]

Buzz Your Way into More Web Traffic

“If you build it, they will come” is one of those memorable movie quotes that have gone on to become legend.

However, while that may be true for baseball diamonds in corn fields, it doesn’t hold much water when it comes to building traffic to your website. There are literally millions of web pages out there. When everybody and their grandmother have their hands in the Internet pie, you have to stand out to be noticed. [Read more →]
