How I OutRank My Competitors By “Using Their Own Websites”

hushNote: This is a sneaky tactic (and optional) you can use. It will give you an “unfair advantage” but remember that if you do not follow this exact method you still get rankings… It also requires some work but even if you just go through it you are still learning search engine optimization… I hire people to do what I am going to teach you…

These steps will allow you to beat a competitor who is in the number one position in Google for a certain keyword. However you still need to find keywords that do not have too many competitors if you do not have someone to help you doing optimization.

1) Type in the keyword you want to rank for in Google (for this example we assume it is hire blue cars) and hit search. Now copy the URL that is number one.

In the result you will see:

Title of site
Description of site
Full URL of site - (usually written in green)

You need to copy the full URL of the site, whatever it is, does not matter if it is a long or short URL, a page or a domain… At the time of writing it is a domain: www.bluecarhire.com

We want to know how many backlinks that website which is in the number one position has (backlinks are simple links pointing to that site). We use Yahoo to find this out because Google does not list all of them.

Now visit Yahoo site explorer at https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com
there are two search boxes. In the top one input the FULL URL and make sure there is the http://www. in front of the URL of the site.

Ex: http://www.bluecarhire.com

now hit search.

Results will display something like: Pages (1,220) | Inlinks (2,920)

Now the objective is to get more links than your competitor has. They have 2,920 backlinks in that particular page. The 1,006 is the number of pages the website has (we don’t need that number). Inlinks (2,920) is a link - you need to click on it to see the backlinks.

When you click on it you will see:

2) This will take some time if you don’t hire someone to help you but it is almost a guarantee that you will outrank your competitor:

What you need to do is visit each site in the search results and check out where the link to your competitor is located. You then need to take note of the anchor text they are using. You may want to use Microsoft Excel to put down this information.

Finally when you check all sites you will have a list of all the anchor texts your competitor is using. Your objective is to get links using the exact same anchor text your competitor used.

If you take the example above, and click on result number 3 that takes you to: http://www.europe-transfer.com/our-links2.htm you can see they got a link using anchor text National Budget Discount Car Rental and points to their domain: http://www.bluecarhire.com/

Let’s say for example they have thirty backlinks using the anchor text blue cars and twenty backlinks with anchor text free blue cars. Your objective is to get more than thirty backlinks with anchor blue cars and more than twenty backlinks with anchor text free blue cars.

You contact the same websites that link to your competitor and get links from those same sites. It’s a “Shortcut” to success.

Then use some other method to get links so you have more backlinks than your competitor.

That is how you outrank your competitor. In the eyes of the search engines you will appear better if you have more links. The idea of using same anchor text and getting links from same sites that link to your competitor is for a reason.

The search engines love those sorts of links and anchor texts because they already ranked your competitor as the number one. So if you give the search engines what they like and more than that they put you first instead.

It is still recommended to get links steadily. Even though you know you have to contact say hundred link partners for a link, do not contact all of them same day. Get same number of links everyday, keeping it regularly. You do not want to give the impression to search engines that you are buying links or some other “un natural” way of getting links.

The impression needs to be that you are getting links in a normal way. Therefore people are linking to your site because they find it of great content or value to their visitors.

As you can see it is important to check out what your competitor does. You do the steps mentioned for each keyword you want to get number one position for. Your goal should be the number one so you analyze the competitor that is number one position. Again I will mention that it is a “shortcut” to success and requires a bit more time… but in my opinion time well spent.

Analyzing can be long but well worth it because you have a faster chance to get ranked above your competitor. Nowadays it is very common that webmasters hire people to help them to in search engine optimization. You can hire someone to do the analyzation, link building or both. Show him what needs to be done and he/she does exactly that. Outsourcing has become very efficient and effective nowadays so I suggest you take advantage of that.
