Is Your Web Content Marketable?
When it comes to marketing yourself on the internet, content is king. You can exchange links and post on message boards until you’re blue in the face but without top notch content to keep your visitors interested, at the end of the day all you are going to end up with are a few quick click-throughs and nothing to show for your effort.
It makes sense if you think about it from the perspective of a web page visitor. They are there for a reason and if you can’t deliver on their needs in the first few seconds, you’re going to lose them and chances are good that they won’t be back anytime soon.
The Keys to the Content Kingdom
• What is the purpose of your website? First things first- you have to know what you are trying to sell; is it a product or a service?
• Who needs your website? Make an all-out effort to determine your target audience. Who are the people who might need or want what you have to offer? How old is your target audience? Are they male or female? Make sure that the language, grammar and context are going to appeal to your target audience or you may as well shut the computer down and do something else.
• What interests your potential viewer? When you have your target audience in mind, ask yourself about their interests and how you might be able to tie in your product or service into an article or series of articles.
• Stop selling and start suggesting! Most people don’t like to be slammed with a bullet list of why your product is the best, they’d rather read an article that sounds like it was written by someone like them. If they can identify with your content, they are more likely to buy what you are selling.
Always be on the lookout for current news that ties in to your product or service. That, along with first person testimonials will go further to promote what you’ve got than anything else you could do, and it won’t cost a lot either.
